I have attached a Word97 document that provides a detailed explanation of a successful transfer of control from a running Access97 dB to another database. This 2nd dB automatically compacts the dB that called it and then compacts 3 other dBs if they exist.
The calling dB is closed after a Shell command opens the compaction dB.
