Trying to upgrade db from 97 ->2k

Am trying to convert a database from 97 to 2k but when I open it in 2k it gives an error message saying that I do not have permission to change it. I can open it and build edit etc in 97. What do I need to do?

I think you must convert it before you can change it.

When you open a 97 db in 2k it tries to convert it automaticaly but it says that I do not have the permission to do so and it drops out. Therefore I cannot convert it. What do I need to do?

Are you signed on to Access as a member of the Admins group? Are you using the Admin user ID? Are there network permission problems with the folder you are converting from?
