I have a table with the following information on our household expenses using Access 2002. I am not a programmer but just a casual user of Microsoft Access.
Date (expense occurred)
Amount of Expense
Category (example – automobile)
I want to use a report to have total expense comparisons for of the catagories of expense on the same line. Example:
Total for Category April 2011 Total for Category May 2011
--------------------------------- ----------------------------------
Automobile 150.00 Automobile 136.00
Utilities 178.00 Utilities 186.00
It was not difficult to create the report with totals for one month, but harder for the comparison of two months side by side.
I have tried various ways of doing this including using two queries, one for April and one for May (example). I cannot get the report to accept both queries etc.
Is this a difficult problem? I do not use SQL much but am willing to try if it would work.
