I have inherited a database from someone who has since left the project and moved to a job in Russia

The database uses a frontend that includes the forms and reports, and is linked to the backend which contains the tables

Problem being, as our project is moving on, this database is to be used in different ways, and we need to add features, but alas there is no way I can see a way of creating and editing the current forms (as well as adding and editing reports)

Have you encountered and tackled this problem in the past?
This is not a password protected database, and you can edit the queries and the tables within...

All suggestions, very welcome

Thanks in Advanced

Hold down the shift key before you enter the database. The designer probably disabled the ability to make changes to it and holding down shift will usually bypass it.

Cheers for the reply gregg.
But the problem happens after holding down the shift key and allowing you to go into all the tables and forms and so on.
Problem being when you click on reports or forms they will allow you to open them but not to create any new forms of amend the forms already there

Is the frontend file extension .mde? If it is, you need to get your IT department to find the equivalent .mdb file)s) on the computer of the person who went to Russia. This is the only way to change/add forms, reports, etc.

we've concluded that its down to the file being an MDE rather than MDB file, now we need to find a decompiler that will reverse the process, making the forms/reports editable.. Any Suggestions?

I checked out download.com and they had a couple of tools available that may be able to help out. I have never tried it so I can't say how they work. Just type in mde to mdb and a few tools will show up. One in particular was called Modify Access MDE 1.6. Good luck
