Unique criteria

I need to set the criteria to filter out all records but one for a single field in a query.

The table has all the teachers for each elementary school in the state of Nebraska. I want to send a letter to each school not each teacher. School name is a field in the table. Is there a criteria I can put in that field to give me only the first record each time the school name changes.

The table is sorted alpha on school name.

Try creating a summary query based on the table.

Group by School Name
Max on Address

(Summary queries can be changed to select queries and vise versa by going to menu item View then Totals in the design view of the query)

you can use the word DISTINCT in your SQL statement
