Update CancelUpdate with Edit or AddNew

I have a program that consistently gets this error when trying to modify a field value. If the user back out and reopens, everything is fine, then it happens again a few minutes later. Does anyone think that this is caused by the form being based on a lookup query with Dynaset InconsistentUpdates? If this is the cause I certainly want to change it!
