Hi All,

Wondering if someone can help me with a scenario i have.

In a form I have a field called "Sex" This is a ComboBox with with Male/Female. I want to update 1 if male and 2 if female into the table. The users still need to be presented with Male/Female.

Looking forward to some help please.

Thanks:)

That's exactly what a Combo Box will do. First sex up a table TBL_Sex with two fields SexID and Sex, save that table and assign SexID as a Primary key (PK) now entry some data in that table in the SexID enter 1 in the first row and 2 in the second row. In the Sex field enter Male next to 1 and Female next to 2.

You will need a second (at the very least) table say table TBL_Subject, one of the fields, in that table, will be SexID. Your data entry form will be based on this table, now add a Combo Box to your form and follow the wizard. Your combo will be based on the table TBL_Sex. If you continue to foll ow the combo box wizard you will have exactly with you described above.

You could make a combobox with a 2 colum valulist and hide your first colum.

Colum 1 -> values 1 and 2 , colum 2 -> Male and Female.

columwhith-> 0;1inch

another possibillity is and option groupe.

JANR,

I think these properties should produce the required result

Column Count: 2
Row Source Type: Value List
Row Source: Male;1;Female;2
Column Widths: 1in, 0in
Bound Column: 2
