I wrote a similar topic yesterday (Changing records en-masse) but dont have an answer yet.
Basically i want to change the Job No that a bunch of equipment is allocated to when it is required to be allocated to a new Job.
I want to do this by selecting the new Job No from a combo box and then clicking on a button to update the equipments location.
I have a Table - Equipment and a Table Location.
Editing single records is no problem but I am trying to get my head round this problem. I have started along the lines of an update query at the moment but would be most grateful if anyone can give me any pointers.

Thanks

sam,

please don't double-post, it makes it hard on yourself and those trying to help.

just do a reply to your original message...

an update query may be the answer...but, it would help if you posted the structure of your 2 tables...esp. what are the PK's.

Sorry about that, I thought that people would think the topic is resolved if ti had a few replies in it

The Table structure is as follows:

Equipment Table
PK EquipmentID
LocationID (Foreign Key - Location Table)
EquipRef (Foreign Key - EquipLookup Table)
ItemNo
PurchaseDate
TestDate
PurchaseRef
CertID (Foreign Key - ConformancyCerts Table)

Location Table
PK LocationID
JobNo
Client
Location

EquipLookup Table
PK EquipRef
EquipDescription
ENNumber

ConformancyCerts Table
PK CertID
CertNo
Cert (OLE)

sam,

late here, even later for you!

i only see JobNo in your location table...so it should be safe to construct an update query that references the combo box on your form...

you will need to include the old JobNo as the criteria in your query, and in the Update To put the new JobNo from your combo box.

hth,
al

Thanks for that Al

I shall give it a try

As to the time, I am working nightshift

Thanks again
