I have a client with MS Access 2003 (Office 2003). Some of there pcs have msadox.dll version 2.7 and some have 2.8. I believe 2.8 is the current version. If you have encountered this problem you know that this is a pain in the neck when you attempt to update the database.

My Client's IT Department is been significantly less than responsive to update the PCs. In fact the rumor is that the company's IT Department is an urban myth. No one has seen an IT guy in quite a while, I think they said they had XTs the last time they saw someone.

In any case does the latest Office 2003 Service Pack from Microsoft download the latest version of this DLL? If not is there any other way to install it on a pc short of the SDK? Does anyone know the registry location of this file so I can update it manually?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for all meaningful suggestions.

After further research, it looks like downloading the latest version of MDAC (2.81) from Microsoft's Web Site should download and register MSADOX.DLL version 2.81. This should resolve this issue.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hopefully it doesn't cause problems with other applications. :)

We have one application that runs fine on pc's with older versions of certain dll's/ocx's, but the users who have newer versions cannot run it. Just an FYI. One I know that doesn't work is an application that uses the MS Flexgrid. Old version works great, new one doesn't display all the data.

I have the same issue. One PC is XP w/ 2.81 and two others are Win2000 with 2.7

Is there any issues with loading 2.81 on Win2000? or should I only load 2.80.

Thanks.

After several frustrating hours trying to do the updates, I requested the IT Dept at my Client come in to do the udpate. It required a knowledge of the versions of Windows that the PC had.

The downloads on MS download site lists the required software and their versions. Best to check the list of required software.

The downloads won't let you install the wrong version. I speak from experience here.

Good luck.
