Updating Word files

I have a database which will track the progress of actions. These actions are detailed on a word document. entered into the database and tracked. When completed the action is closed in the tracker and the word doc is manually updated to say the action is complete what was done how and why.

Currently i have linked up the word files as OLE objects but am finding this is very slow and the database is 30 mb with only 10 OLE in use. I am also looking at hyperlinks as an option. (Application.followhyperlink "ect" & ect) which also works and quicker.

But is there a way to either A:Jump to a specfic area of the word doc maybe find a word, or set reference points. or

B: some other way to update the word doc in the background with out opening it. (its a standarised doc format for all)

Any ideas?
