Hi Guys

Have any of you calculated the memory requirements of your databases when upsizing to SQL Server?

Our organisation currently has some SQL 2005 Workgroup Edition licenses which are not being utilized. So I am being told that I have to use this edition unless it does not meet requirements.

SQL 2005 Workgroup Edition is limited to utilizing 3Gb of system memory.

Our core Contacts database uses 600Mb when I upload I upsize it to SQL Express on my desktop. However, this test is only accepting hit from my desktop and not in a multiuser setup. Also I will be upsizing other databases to connect to our Contacts db and i'd guestimate the total memory usage would be around 1Gb...

Would memory resources be consumed dramatically when running complex queries/ procs?

How can I calculate if Workgroup Edition will be adequate for our needs?

Also, I run Development and Test environments.. Should these be setup on a seperate box?
