Interesting! paste from word table

When I copy text from within a Word TABLE that contains paragraph marks into a textbox (memo type) in a form it loses the hard returns completely. Not even a symbol to show where they were. If the text is not in a table the hard returns appear as normal. Any ideas how to get round this anybody?

If I recall correctly, a hard RETURN cannot appear inside a table cell - only a soft one. A hard RETURN in the text stream is how Word marks the separation between adjacent cells. Word merely changes the interpretation of the character that it uses for this purpose. And therein lies your problem.

You see, Word has rules for how it interprets certain control codes like the hard RETURN or the TAB or the FORMFEED. These rules are context-sensitive. Inside and outside a table are totally different contexts. But Access, not being a word-processing program, interprets those characters very differently. There is no direct way to make Access think it is Word because the formatting you want cannot be applied to an Access cell.
