I am running a report from a form and specify the start date and end date in the form. I give the startdate in the query associated with the report. I get the following error?

The Microsoft Jet Database engine does not recognize
'[Forms]![ReportMenu]![StartDate]' as a valid field name or expression

What could be the problem?

Hi there,

It looks like you're on the right track.

Is the [ReportMenu] the correct name of your form?

Is your [StartDate] the correct name of the unbound text box on the form?

Make sure that there are no extraneous spaces in any of the names. They can be hard to spot. If your query involves any crosstab queries, you'll need to specifically define the parameters. Right-click on they gray background of the query form and choose parameters from the menu. Enter the name EXACTLY as it appears in the query and specify the correct data type.

try having the report menu form opened when you are running the query.
