I have a report, which is actually a letter. I want to italize the name of the publication but cannot figure out how to do it. I tried </ text /> (no luck). I tried <i> text <i> (no luck). Can I create italics?

="1. Reference Inter-Service publication AFI 36-3026," & "Identification Cards for Members of the Uniformed Services, Their Eligible Family Members and Other Eligible Personnel" & ", Chapter 19, paragraph 19.28, and Chapter 21, para 21.23." & Chr(13)+Chr(10) & Chr(13)+Chr(10) & "2. " & [Agent] etc.

You havent said which version of access you are using, but the following refers to 2007 and later. Earlier versions used rtf codes and if I recall correctly, could only be applied at the table level.

You are mixing html type codes (rich text) with plain text type codes, you have to use one or the other, you cannot mix them within the context of field or the controlsource of a control.

In your report, the control where this displays needs to be set to rich text.

Then take a look at this link so you can find out what the formatting codes need to be.

Note this needs to apply to the whole control, so if the value contains contains linefeeds etc, you will need to substitute those as well
