Hi There

one another database have started showing a new error
"the database has been placed in state by user 'Admin' on machine 'XXXXXX' that prevents it from being opened."

I read some of the articles on google and find out tht database splitting is solution for this.
Now my question is if after splitting i keep the front end and back end at the same location does it gonna effct some how?
i mean even after spliting if users use the same copy of database as fromt end. Does it make some sense.

Thanks
Danny

The Front End should be copied to the users PC. The Back end should be on the network.

But i have multiple users for that. How do i map all those copies form their machine to the backend.
or the database do it itslf once its splitted all i need to do is just copy the database to different locations.

Thanks
Danny

what i am trying to ask is ...

1. Database is already on the network drive. I will split the database and put the backend file on the same location.
2. Then copying the mdb file to each users local machine keeping in mind that they are allready mapped with network drive.

so my question is do i need to do some mapping stuff also or just copy paste.

somebody please help!!!!!!!!

Thanks
Danny

If you go through the Linked Table Manager then a UNC name is used and no drive mapping is needed.
