Hi,

I want to be able to set up user accounts for my access application. I need to have 2 admin users that have access to everything (table & form design, vba code etc). Then I also need about 4 general users that can only view forms, click command buttons etc. I cannot have the users having access to table or form design, or the vba code, But they still need to have permissions to run the SQL scripts in the VBA code by clicking command buttons.

Can you enlighten me as to how I go about doing this. I have tried setting the 'User and Group Permissions', but I cannot seem to be able to lock down the table and form design.

Help...

Which version of Access are you using?
If you are using pre 07, sounds like a job for Group/User level security.

I am using 07 but it is likely that some of the users will be on 03.

I have not yet explored the security features in Access 07. I have been told that the Group Level security functions available in 03 and earlier are not available, but that the User Level security is.

download the first file – Security Paper by Jack Macdonald. It’s a little long but it tells you everything you need to know.
