If your form is bound to an updatable recordset, the wizard's code should be able to save your data. The only reasons I can think of for the wizard to fail is

1. Form unbound to anything or bound to a read-only record source.

2. Custom install of Access that omitted the wizards.

3. Missing references.

My best guess would be #2.

If I may interject with another quick question...
You aren't by chance changing the buttons names AFTER the wizard creates them are you...? I had a database design assistant that used to do that, and then they would wonder WHY the buttons never worked!

Good call, randomblink - since I don't do that and neither did my predecessor, that reason never occurred to me. Please add it in my earlier list!

sorry about my last message the quetsion i need answering is number 2 (Custom install of Access that omitted the wizards.)thanks

In regards to recovering from an incomplete installation:

Get the media. Restart the install. Depending on version, it might or might not ask if this is a "refresh" installation. If it asks, your answer is "YES" - but if it does not ask, keep on going anyway.

When you get to the screen that asks for "Typical" vs. "Custom" install, select "Custom."

In the portion of the install for Access, step through the options looking for anything having to do with Wizards. If the Wizard is an import or export Wizard specific to a product you don't use (e.g. Paradox 5) then leave it unchecked. But if it doesn't appear to be bound to a specific product, select it. As I recall, some of the Wizards are considered optional.

Continue with the installation once you have specified the options. When done, you should have all the required Wizards available to you.

PLEASE NOTE: If you had previously applied any Windows Service Pack update, you will have to reapply it after the Access or Office installation.
