Hello
Users trying to open my MS Access application(accde file) on a file server via Citrix (Windows server 2003/Office 2010) are receiving this message:
The database cannot be openned because the VBA project contained in it cannot be read. The database can be opened only if the VBA project is first deleted.
Some other non-Citrix users were having the same error and I was able to fix it by replacing their old VBE7.dll file.
The Windows server 2003 already has the newest VBE7.dll file but the problem continues.
I created the accde file within that environment and it worked but only for a few months. Now the problem is back and the Citrix team claims nothing has changed.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Well, you got my attention! I am running an ACCDB on my Citrix application. It has been just great.
All of my *reports* are in Excel generated with custom VBA Automation.
Back in the .mdb times, there was a lonly PDF report, now replaced with Excel.
I will put testing the PDF output on my ToDo list for later this week. Appreciate the heads-up.

It would be really swift if we could get a Citrix category side-by-side with the VBA.

Hi

1. Was this database ever converted to an ACCDB file from an MDB file?
No, I built it using Access 2010

2. If so, how was it done?

3. Have you tried using it as an ACCDB file instead of ACCDE just to see if there is a difference? I just ran into a problem with running an ACCDR on Citrix with our Acrobat PDF printer and had to go back to using an MDB file. Yes, the ACCDB works. It's supper slow but works.

Ok, but it's only slow in the Citrix environment. The tables are on a SQL server. Is there a limit to the number of linked tables? I have 48 and 29 out of 48 are views on the SQL server.

That could'nt be it ... I have other applications with the same amount or more linked tables ... the problem is with the Citrix environment. ACCDE works for everyone except in Citrix.

Will just kick in 2 dollars worth (now that a dollar is worth an old copper cent)
Linking to over 100 tables myself. It sounds like the use of views are understood.
Your getting some great advice for the rest. I don't use PDF so can't suggest much in that area.
I have timers on some of my longer process and log the results just to keep the network crew on thier toes. No problems, everything is fast.
But, that wasn't always the case. When I inherited this system, there was only one instance of Access shared by all the Citrix users. Thank to Bob, I changed to a script that creates one copy of my access db for each user. That fixed a lot.
