VERY simple problem.....

coursework as follows:

tblArtists
Artist ID
Artist Name
Type Of Music
Description

tblCdInformation
CD ID
CD Type ---- Album/Compilation
Price
Release Date
Stock Level

Obviously i wanna relate these two together. I got the artstID related to the CD ID. the cdinfo is a subform in the ARtist form, but it wont let me add any cds to any artist at all

v simple problem, what am i doin wrong?!?!?!

The error msg is, You can't assign a value to this object. Hardly helpful....

I got the artstID related to the CD ID.

You are going the wrong way about that.

ArtistID should be a foreign key in your CD Table.

Also, rather than have a Field called TypeOfMusic, I'd create another table (tblGenre) and change the TypeOfMusic field to be a foreign key in the Artist table.

another quick question, is this fully normalised? or should each part of the cdinfo be in a diff table??

It looks fine - just get a genre table in as I said.
