I have an 2003 db that i am using 2007 to update (have not converted records yet.) on my switchboard, i have a button for a form that was created in datasheet view. I have changed the properties to NOT allow any other view. If i open the form from the navigation I view it correctly in datasheet view. However if i click on the switchboard, i view it in single form view.. even though the properties say this should not be the case! Any ideas?

Just another one of Access' quirks! When opening FormB from FormA (the switchboard, in your case) you must specify that FormB be opened in Datasheet view, even if that's the Default View or only view listed within FormB's Properties. The syntax is

DoCmd.OpenForm "YourFormName", acFormDS

Linq

wher do i put that? on the form properties "onopen"?

No. It has to go in the button that is used to open the form.

OK, Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but how do i put that into the button when its a switchboard item... i can't change the properties on those buttons, if i click on the properties for the switchboard only the main page shows up. :(

ok i figured it out. i created a macro to open form in data sheet view, then used my switchboard item to run the macro. I think there should have been an easier way, but this works ok. thanks

thank pat, i just saw your post... same idea... thanks for input
