I have an Access front-end database with a SQL back-end. Some of the users use VPN to connect to the network here at our base when they are out and about. All the programs are slow to load, especially Access. Also, Access seems to bomb out frequently. One user got a message today that said Access had detected corruption in the file. (there have been many other messages which I am now collecting.) After logging back into the database the user got another message in a few minutes that said the search key was not found. That was the end of that.

Without going into too much more detail, does anyone know if SQL is the main culprit here or if this is just typical Access? Have any of you had problems like this?

Thanks.

I never had problems with the VPN connection, but access apps will corrupt now and then no matter the VPN or not.
Backup frequently!

Simple forms with limited datasets are okay over a VPN. Anything more complex will be slow or hang. Use a remote desktop for anyone on a VPN, then the data isn't being dragged around a Wan.

I've not personally had a front end corrupted by VPN use. But lots of lock ups and general non-function.

Is the FE shared by all users or does each user have a separate copy?
