I have a software developed by Access 2003. I would like to upgrade it to 2007, and I know there are several problems that will arise. Can anybody list such problems?

Thanks,

Actually, the problems are very few. But you will have to create your own Ribbons if you want custom buttons (you can still get yours if you have some but they are listed under the ADD-INS tab).

I would suggest converting by IMPORTING everything into a brand new ACCDB file. Then you will have to set your startup options again, database name, and all but it works the best. Then you can see if there are any problems. I have tested 7 databases here at work and I had to make only about 2 or 3 changes to make it all work.

Bob, I'm too lazy to try out the 2007 new shell thing but I was wondering what happens to security? Does it prompt you or it just gets rid of it?

You have to remove security if you are going to take it to an ACCDB file format. User Level Security is not available in the newer ACCDB file format. If user level security is required you would have to stay in the 2002-2003 mdb format.

Yes I know that. :) If you're doing a conversion from pre 2007 to 2007 using the converter/wizard it would warn you that security will no longer be available (I think, can't remember) so I was wondering if it will at least include that in the ConversionErrors table?

No, because you have to remove the security BEFORE converting. It will not convert with ULS still enabled.

I am almost sure it did it for me:eek: Well, it's been too long I did one so I don't remember.:D Thanks!
