What data type would a registration number be?

Hi I'm doing some work on Access and I really need to know what type of data type registration number would be. This may sound like a stupid question as I thought maybe number but then I needed to do the validation rule aswel and I thought that you would never know what th highest number was which made me think it maybe text data type. Please help me out of this!!

If you are not planning on doing any calculations with the data it should be set up as text.
