What do the up/down arrows indicate?

I've created a fill-in form to add new 'contacts', ie:
firstname
lastname
username
password...etc

On each line of the form to the right of the fill-in line is an up & down arrow.

They don't seem to do anything...can anyone tell me what these are for?

thanks!

My guess is that the Scroll Bars property of the text boxes is set to Vertical.

Ok, found that setting...thanks to another of your posts with a very nice image of the properties box ...
Changed it to neither (didn't have a 'none' option)
Closed it, saved the changes and they still remain on the form? Any ideas how to remove?

Can you post a pic? You shouldn't get them without the scroll bars. Are you sure you have text boxes?

Trying to post pic but keep getting message too many characters no matter how small the pic is...suggestions?

Are you sure it isn't too few characters? The message has to be something like 10 characters. Are you using the attachment button?

Oh maybe I was using the 'Quick reply'...duh
Attached pic - hopefully it's readable - thanks!

Yes those arrows are to cursor through the field's value.

That also indicates that the field is set to accept Enter (CR/LF) in its value vs "Default Behavior". To adjust this point, while in Design View, click the control, Properties, Other tab, Enter Key Behavior.

The only time I've seen those is with the Scroll Bars property of the textbox set to Vertical. In my testing, neither Enter Key Behavior setting displays those. Are you sure you're not setting the scroll bars for the form rather than the textbox? It sounds like you are, since Neither is not an option at the textbox level.

Ah ha!...you are correct. Found that setting and changed it to none - thanks!
Out of curiosity, how could those be utilized?

You might want them if you had a textbox with a lot of text in it, to make it easier for the user to scroll through and read the content. I can't remember the last time I used it myself.

Correct, I just got bit by copying a text box used for "memo" type data to a non-memo use. So this property in A2007 is: Click the Text Box, Properties Sheet, Format tab, Scroll Bars = None.
