So Ive defined a bunch of tables that have a one to one relationship.

When I view these tables in Datasheet view, at the far left of every row is a + that when clicked, expands out into the sort of root table, showing multiple entries. How can this be? There should be only one row in all the one-to-one tables for each item...

Sounds like you have assigned a relationship, but got it wrong?

Try looking at the relationships first and see if there is an obvious error.

Why do you have "a bunch" of one to one relationships - these are very rare?

In answer to the first question -- I did check the relationships tool and confirmed that the relationships are indeed 1-1. In answer to the second, this is an inpection database for an apartment building. I was handed the paper form they use and told to put in on a computer (they want easy reports). Since that form was divided by room, I did the same in design. everything could have gone in one table (Except bedrooms, as there can be 0,1,2 bedrooms to a unit), but that table would have been monstrous.

After playing around with the data, I noticed that one of the rows after clicking the + is an insert row, which does not work, which is correct. I think Access provides the plus whenever there is related data in another table ...
