What kind of 'control' is this?

This is a real newbie question, so apologies for the odd terminology.

On my db, which controls jobs in a workshop, all the jobs on a particular day for a particular machine, are put into an order by the database, using values assigned to the jobs. However, the workshop foreman often has to change the order based on his experience of various engineering factors. Presently, if we say have 10 jobs for a machine, the system populates a job_number field with 1, 2, 3 etc. Thus, if he needs to move job at position 3 to position 6 (for example) he needs to amend the job_number field to something like 5.5, or manually renumber all the jobs.

In many windows applications, you see a list with 'move up' and 'move down' controls. I need something similar here, it strikes me.

The job_number field is presently just an integer field.

So my question is ~ what are these movable list thingies called, and does this type of control in access? If they do exist, I'm more than happy to search through the forum / my books, etc to find a solution, so I'm really asking for the correct terminology to search on, if you see what I mean.

Many TIA.

Many thanks for that ~ I'll sit down and work my way through and see if I can get my head around the code.

Thanks again,

SeriesIII.
