when you put a label in front of a button....

and you press the button.. the text label disappears until the button is no longer focused...

is there a way to avoid this?

Instead of using the text, which is probably moved behind the button while it has the focus, why not use the buttons control tip text property.

Oh, another Access 2007 moment -
In Access 2007, you have the opportunity (FINALLY) to put text with a picture and you can select where you want the text to be (top, left, right, bottom).
