Why are cars so complicated nowadays ?

Insofar as my looking for a parking space, I take it that you are either incapable of driving a car or too poor to own one ?

You can charm the birds out of the trees you smooth talker you...

hahaha - I am more then capable of piloting many different road vehicles and have more then just one on the farm. I don't understand what that has to do with your finding a parking space rather then allowing the parking valet to usher you vehicle to an appropriate spot.

Insofar as the use of public transport is concerned, all of my friends and colleagues regard that as being suitable only for proles : as do I.
I would also suggest you be more selective with friends and colleagues if they are going to poke fun at you for having to take public transit as you do...

I'm not at all sure that you have even the slightest idea of what I have said in this thread. Firstly, the " parking valet " was a traffic warden/meter maid or whatever you call them where you live. And, secondly, I haven't used public transport for nigh on twenty years..........and it'll be another twenty years before I ever use it again, if at all !

Now I am of a certain age, I have a free bus pass. I use it loads, especially when I have a few days in the smoke (London), its easy by bus and you can see everything going on. Hop on, hop off, go wherever you like.

Our buses in Colchester are every 10 mins to town centre, excellent service, nice friendly drivers and you meet interesting people.

God help the government if they take away the bus pass.

I like your courage, amigo. Although a Londoner born and bred I positively blanch at the thought of going there. I suspect that living in a tiny country village has made me accustomed to the very slow pace of life there.
Everything seems to be moving so fast in London, be it people or traffic.

People are fast, traffic is not! The tube is a nightmare tis true

I like a few days there, but not to live there any more. I did 3 years there, that was enough, but visiting is fine.
The sad thing is, you can't leap on and off buses these days as they have doors. The drivers these days wont open the doors unless at a designated stop. The old routemasters were fab, but sadly all gone now.
