Your Primary Keys are AutoNumbers which is correct. You need to be aware that AutoNumbers are LongIntegers so when you put them in other tables as Foreign Keys, the daya type is LongInteger and not Text. It is also advisable to name the fields the same in both tables to eliminate any confusion. I made some changes to get you started.

Thanks that has helped

Thanks
That has got me back on track have a few more problems but have solved most of them
But one I am stuck on is the following

We are going to have around 200 Students in Database so the staff that will use database will need to select the right pupil to edit
what I thought was if They Select the Form Group from a combo box/ or drop down list I could get it to populate another combo box of a list of pupils in that form.
I have done first part but cannot work out how to get the 2nd combo lbox to display pupil name

Also would it be best to put the pupils name all into one field or to keep it seperated to first name and surname

Thanks again for help and advice I think i can see light at end of tunnel and learning as i go

Perhaps this link will help with the ComboBoxes. Cascading Lists for Access Forms As for the name, it is trivial to put First and Last names together whenever you need them that way. It can be almost impossible to separate them correctly if they are in the same field.

I have had enough HELP!!!!

Cannot get the Combo Box Bit to work have followed instructions from seveal sources and it does not work.

A bit more help please

I know i am a pain but i think i have bitten off more than i should have.

The last file you sent back to me worked great except for one thing
When you select the form/tutor group from combo it does populate the 2nd combo but it also changes the form/tutor group of the pupil that is all ready being displayed in the form below the combo boxes.

Can you also tell me what you did to fix my combo boxes as i think i am going to use them again in the sub form but for a different thing.

I really do appreciate all this help I know at the moment you are writing most of the database but if you tell me what you are doing or how to do what i need in simple terms avoiding code if possible I will learn and i am making notes so that i can share with other if thay ever ask me for help
IF i can do anything for you then please ask I owe you bing time.

Stuart

I simply gave your Group ComboBox an AfterUpdate event and modified the RowSource of the 2nd ComboBox.
