Wild Card on a Form

Hi All:

I have a form called QC Query. On the form I have a search field called Lot Number. I have a query that extracts the Lot number and I've added this to the Lot Number column. [Forms]![QC Query]![Lot Number]

Why will the form not work with a wild card? I've tried "*", * and Like "*" and it will not work. If I enter a lot number the program works fine.

If [Lot Number] is numeric, then it won't work because * is a string wildcard.

This worked!

I kept playing with it and this worked:

Like "*" & ([Forms]![QC Query]![Lot Number])
