Hi, I have searched the forum and the web but either I'm not asking the question correctly or this is the first time anyone anywhere has had this problem! Yeah, right! :)

I have a txtbox (unbound) on a form, where I want the user to be able to put in a wildcard selection (12000*). Then click a command button that would run the query that will reference the txtbox and return anything that starts with the 12000*.

Right now I'm returning no records.

I have also tried making the command button run the query where the criteria will ask for input which works fine until they put in the *, and still returns no records.

It's probably very simple and I'm just missing it! By the way, we're still using Access97. We still haven't joined the 21st Century yet!

Thanks to all.

I think you have to do something like:

Like [My input prompt]

Instead of just

[My input prompt]

I think the 'Like' is required for wildcard stuff...

I KNEW IT WOULD BE SIMPLE!!! DUH!!!! :)

Thank you so much, Ken, now I can move on.
