My wonderful old computer has died and I have to get a new one. I have been using Window 7 and now, of course, have to have one with Windows 10. I am using Access 2010 as do all the computers at work; they all have Windows 7. Since I am the Access guru so to speak and modify, update, change the dB, I want to make sure that there will not be any problems with my new operating system and Access 2010, that I can update it and then put the new updates on the server without people saying that it doesn't work.

Ordinarily I would not be worried, but I have seen posts where people say that a problem has occurred when they update their operating system.

Should I be concerned enough to find a used computer with Windows 7 installed instead of a brand new one?

Just trying to be prudent and ask before leaping.

Access 2010 works fine in Windows 10 - see signature line

A lot of games that worked on older versions of Windows will sometimes not work for Win10, but that is because they violated rules about touching things like memory management or video devices. Microsoft, however, has a vested interest in having its own products work across multiple versions of Windows so they tend to avoid the bad behavior.

Just watch out for the right flavor of Ac2010 - 32-bit vs. 64-bit - and you should be golden.

You should try Wolfenstein instead of Weinstein :D

I think Win 10 is less stable than Win 7 but given the current state of affairs, you probably won't be able to stay with Win 7. I haven't found any particular Access problem caused by Win 10.

That would make a great button :) Win 8 was so offensive, I refused to install it. Win 10 is certainly better but I am sick to death of MS changing the names of things and their locations with every new release. Enough already!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you listening MS? Change for the sake of change does not make for happy customers if you care.

My mum is 84, had always been keen on tech. Had one of the first pocket calculators, (Texas Instruments, I think).. But with age, stupid, unnecessary changes are, well, I'd go as far to say, the opposite of the features the have to add to aid people with disabilities. (Can't think of the right term) anyway, it's bordering on a deliberate malicious act...

I have Windows 10 on all laptops. A mixture of conversion/upgrades from 8.1 and 10 from new and both Hom and Pro. Office365 which is now Access 2016.

Also have two with Access 2003 on W10.

Very advanced and complex application and no problems.

Lots of Access opening Word and Excel and filling Boomarks and Cells and Bookmark and Cell data back to Access.

No problems.

Stuff made on 2003 Access copied to Access 2016 and no problems and automatic references upgrade.

So all fine on W10 and both for 8.1 to 10 upgrades and new computers that come W10.

Thanks, I think I am going to leave my worries behind.
