I'm currently designing an inventory control database for an end user who is having trouble transferring his Access 2007 Professional License from his old computer to his new one. In the event that he cannot get the activation code, will his version of access be able to utilize the functions provided by various VBA modules and other objects included in the database? In what areas are the functionality of MS Access limited by the reduced functionality mode brought about by a missing activation key code?

While we're on this topic, does anyone have a phone number I can use to aid in the activation process while attempting to transfer licenses from one computer to another - or any other useful information regarding this issue?

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

The registration process itself used to give a phone number to call to register a product if you couldn't do it via the internet.

We figured out the problem. A trial version was installed by the factory on the new computer prior to attempting to install the full version. The old version had to be uninstalled in order for the new installation to recognize its own product key (old product key does not unlock a trial version). Also, the phone activation option doesn't appear on Trial versions of Office. So, attempting to figure all of this out took all day but everything is now fine and dandy.

Thanks for getting back to us. I know this PC came with the trial software loaded but i have learned the hard way to uninstall any trial or otherwise crippled software when I get a new PC. If I have the option, I buy the PC with nothing but the OS installed. That said, I never install trial software on my development machine. If I want to try something, I use an old PC or VirtualPC in some cases. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it because I have the scars to prove it.
