You American's are Nuts!

We might sometimes be extreme in our demolition methods, but from the looks of it, nobody is riding the vehicles. We are perhaps a bit eccentric, but we aren't TOTALLY nuts.

Reminds me of the song with the words "sitting on the dock of the bay, wasting time"
The thing that gets me is when these guys who clearly have nothing to do and little imagination. They actually think this is a hobby and a great event to go and watch. But obviously more friendly than shooting neighbours. Presumably someone else will come along later and shift all the scrap?
Only in America.

God bless America! .... Or better yet, America, Bless God!

When I was a kid, the big thing on a weekend was to go to the demolition derby with our Dad. In that event, actual people were driving around the track in old cars and bumping into each other to knock the other guy out of action. The last car that was mobile, won.

Bumper cars were also popular during that era and well into the 70's at which point they became too dangerous. The best bumper cars I ever drove were in the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. They were much faster than the US versions. I guess the insurance rules were less rigid in Denmark. My daughter, who was 9 was riding with me. At one point she grabbed the wheel and stomped on my foot because I wasn't driving fast enough or hitting enough people.
