I already have IE 7.0 and I want to go back to using IE 6.0 -- but when I try to download IE 6.0, I get a message that the newer version is already installed and the download stops. How can I override this? I know IE is not the best, it's for the wife's computer. I use Firefox on my PC and her company's VPN won't support it. Also, the new VPN upgrade will now no longer support IE 7.0, that's why we need to go back to IE 6.0 on her PC. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try this :

(Uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP)

Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."
Click "Add or Remove Programs."
Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.
Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove." (If you are running Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview — March 20 or later, it is not necessary to check "Show Updates.")
Go here and select the appropriate version of Internet Explorer 7 for your operating system.
