probably impossible but... combobox

I take it there's no comment field on the record that could be co-opted, i.e. a "See comments" option instead of an "Other"?

my issue is not the OTHER part. it's a few things
first of all, my form is continuous, so i can't have fields that are hidden and unhidden - it can either be hidden or unhidden for all rows, not hidden for some and unhidden for others.

second of all, i'm running out of space (from left to right), so adding another field will be a problem.

also, i don't like giving them 2 fields when at any given time only one holds necessary info so i was going to srink the combobox to the width of the arrow and put the text box next to it, so it will look like 1 combobox but in reality it will be 2 fields and the field will be updated after the combobox is.

but the problem here is (small problem) that they can't take advantage of the autocomplete for the combos.

so none of this is the end of the world but it took me a few days to get it to work in access and i'm upset that after all this work i now have to go back and change everything back to the way i originally had it.

Oh, bother.

Definitely not the sort of thing you wanted from Santa. ;)

Hmm. Two field high continuous form?

no, he messed up this year)))))))))))

you mean i should make it 2 field high? nah, i tried it before with other dbs amd never liked it.

it's ok, i'm already doing it, just complaining in the process)))))))))
i'm shrinking the combo to the width of the arrow so the space is not the main issue anymore, it's the not being able to use autocomplete and redoing half of the db

thank you so much everyone for all your help and Happy Holidays.
i love the people here
