Anyone have this happen to you?

I was working on one of db's and closed it with a form in design view with the property window open. Then I went and opened one of my secured db's and opened a form. BUT it also opened the properties window for that form. I've never had this happen before. And it concerns me, as I'm sure you can understand, because I did everything I knew how to lock this db down including disabling the shift key. This db is used by many people in my dept and I don't want them to have access to this info.

Anyone know how to prevent this?

I'm not going to swear to this, but I believe that Access stores the last view, pane, window, form, etc. in the registry. Since the databases had the same name (probably), they shared registry settings. So unless someone else can get into your desktop system to take advantage of what you had open, you are (relatively) safe.

But the real way to make sure you have no problems is to never leave anything open when you close Access.

Actually they were different names. And I'm not concerned about people accessing it through my desktop. The concern is that other people have access to this db from their station and many of them do their own little projects with access. And I'm afraid they'll do the same thing and then open my db only to find the property window open.

It really got me worried when I opened a db that I was only a user on and I was able to see the property window.

I want to know this answer too. Did you ever find one?

Dave,

This takes care of a couple of things.

1) More than how old ? (Threads ... I think)

2) Forms --> Properties --> Other (?) --> Allow changes in Design View only
