How do you copy contents of a cd to another disc with one computer. I tried copying to a folder then to another disc but when I try an run it,it gives me wrong path.

I assume that you are referring to a data disk rather than a CD or DVD that is used to run a program or play music. If the CD is a data disk, use Windows Explorer to copy the files to a temporary directory, then remove the CD and follow the directions below Assuming that you have Windows 7:

Enter: "Burn a CD or DVD in Windows Explorer" in windows help. You should get a screen that provides instructions similar to what is below.
To burn a disc using the Live File System format
Choose the Live File System format when you want to burn a data disc that will play in a computer running Windows XP or later.

Insert a writable disc, such as a CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD+RW disc, into your computer's CD, DVD, or Blu‑ray Disc burner.

In the AutoPlay dialog box that appears, click Burn files to disc using Windows Explorer.

If the AutoPlay dialog box doesn't appear, click the Start button , click Computer, and then double-click your disc burner.

In the Burn a Disc dialog box, type a name for this disc in the Disc title box, click Like a USB flash drive, and then click Next.

This is the option for burning a disc that uses the Live File System disc format. It might take several minutes for the disc to be formatted. When the formatting is complete, an empty disc folder opens.

Open the folder that contains the files you want to burn, and then drag the files into the empty disc folder. (Emphasis Added)

To select more than one item, press and hold the Ctrl key, and then click the files you want to burn.

As you drag files into the disc folder, they are copied automatically to the disc.

There are programs available through the internet that will directly copy one CD onto another CD. Here is a list of potential candidates. CD Burners. Of course, I disclaim any knowledge of which would be better than another.

Here is an interesting post that I ran across: Can I copy a CD in Windows 7 without 3rd party software?. The answer is "NO".

Thanks, I will give it a try.

(yes Win 7) oops just noticed, no it is a program. It is a Bible program that has audio as well a video. I bought the program and it is installed in program files but it has a glitch and will not auto scroll without a copy in cd drive. The owner/authory has given me permission to make a copy, which I did and it runs fine. However I just bought a new printer with the capability of printing on CD's. I decided to make a new copy so I could have a copy with a printed label. I have been googling for a good three hours and nothing works. I even downloaded a free ISO image maker and that didn't even work.

Well, good luck. There are still third party programs, some which are free, that can duplicate a program disk.

Many cds cannot be simply copied using the copy paste method, you have to actually take an image of the disk.

Get this:

Then follow this:

Essentially, you're going to create an image of the disk, then burn this image back to your blank disk.

Thanks Jax,
Yes I found that out, but the crazy part is that I have a copy now that works great, but I want a copy on printable disc so I can play with my new toy. I also made the mistake of showing my wife, now she wants me to put 40,000 recipes on printable disc. some husbands never learn.

Jax,
I downloaded imgburn, but can't find where it was put. Have any idea?

You mean the installer? Did you not get to choose where it downloads to?

If you're using Vista or newer, check under the Libraries or Favorites for "Downloads" in File Explorer.

Hey Guy,
Thanks for answering. First when I could not find the image program from the link you sent me I downloaded another free program and it crash my puter. I did a restore and when I was up and running again I went over trying to make a copy again and discovered that the first three times I tried to copy and pasted I had tried to paste the whole temp folder, so when I tried to run the program from the disc it was looking the temp folder. I then dragged the program files only on to the new disc. Worked great. Stupid me. I almost didn't tell you the dumb part out of fear of Brian, but then thought, who am I to deny him is place in life. Don't let me down now Brian.

The best way I have found to copy discs of any kind is through an outiside program such as Nero. To me Windows Explorer just confuses the fact.
