This is an easy one guys, but damned if I can get it working: Im trying to run the following calculated query:

Total Value on Order: =Sum([Purchase Price])

In the 'Purchase Order Summary Query' see attached database (2010),
I want to sum the total of all purchase prices together so I know the total value on order at any given time. I've added in a textbox and control source in the query, you can see this at the bottom of the screen. However, I keep getting an error: You tried to execute a query that does not include the specified expression Purchase Order as part of an aggregate function.

There's nothing called 'Purchase Order Summary Query' in your database. Further, queries don't have textboxes and control sources--that's forms.

There is defo a query called purchase orders summary. Please have another look

I stand correct. There definitely is not a query called 'Purchase Order Summary Query'. There is form called 'Purchase Orders Summary'.

Please retype what you need, be both correct and specific when referencing exactly what you are talking about.

From just a quick assessment, I see that you have not activated the "SUM" function, and therefore the aggregate expression is not available yet. Check out the change I made: Added the "Sum" function, ordered by the Supplier name, and added the expression in a new field. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that you have a new and different problem than the one you described. You may want to review your "Total Value on Order" statement.
