Are you religious/spiritual?

What I said was worthwhile even if you choose not to accept it. If you or others want to believe something without examining all of the facts then it's up to you.

The consequences of such a thing when it comes to all matters in life generally are not good. Those were God's words, not mine. You don't reject me but him. Hope you don't miss the boat!

Condescending crap like that is why you will never, ever convince someone you're right.

You literally responded to "There is no proof whatsoever that you are correct." with "My God will destroy you for not bowing to my words."

So: Blargle blagnut wingboddle dumpkiss.

There. Using your logic, I just convinced you to agree fully with every statement I have ever made. Have a nice day.

What is the woman asking forgiveness of?

The scenario Col painted of the guy was of someone who had no chance in life, was that his fault?

There is a song "in the ghetto" ,Elvis does a great version, what about people like that.

Brian

I know you want to believe that but Brian,,,everyone has to make that choice and while we can blame it on someone else, It winds down to it was his fault. Help is there if he just asked.

Had no chance in life,,Yeah!

WHat about you,???,You didn't have a chance either?????... I think not!!!! I suspect your choice will be like the fella Colin spoke of yet you probably had more than he did. ...

According to fundamentalist doctrine such as Blade espouses, the woman is damned and will be cast into the Lake of Fire come Judgement Day, as she never took up fundamentalist Christianity.

Conversely, as long as the criminal sincerely repented (as in, truly understood what he did was wrong and wanted to make amends), because he took up Christianity, he'll go to Heaven.

So the good woman either is damned while the man who did nothing but spread misery is welcomed to Heaven.

Now Frothy,,,you just being silly.

Not all people will go to Heaven. The earth has a purpose.
Hell is not a bad place. it is the common grave of mankind.
Acts: 2:31 (Jesus went to Hell)

Yes, he died but he was resurrected. Those who do not make the right choice will NOT be resurrected but be eternally dead.....

Don't even know why you people are arguing with me,,,,, You have already taken up the atheist code and believe in it. From what I have been told, when you die, you just die and there is nothing else. Well, when you make the wrong choice, you eternally DIE....No difference?????/so why argue???????

That's exactly what I thought. The woman is completely outcast and chastised to burn in hell, despite a lifetime of good work, whilst the man reaps the benefit of his crimes then settles nicely in heaven.

Where is this super tolerant all loving God? He needs a good smack in the mouth. Call that fair?

Col

Colin, if you want to listen to Frothy quote the Bible then go ahead. He is not right as I told you.. All she has to do is ask for forgiveness.

Brian, we are all born into sin...No body but Jesus has or will ever be without sin.

Yes Atheists and all religions can go to heaven - the important thing is to do good, and to genuinely renounce the bad.

http://www.catholic.org/news/hf/faith/story.php?id=51077

I think most of the worlds "great" religions believe similarly.

The smaller churches manic street preacher may tell you differently.

Yes and I have been telling you the same thing. "Pope Francis has good news for atheists. Jesus died and was raised for them as well. His redemptive embrace was for all, not just a chosen few.The choice to accept its reach is our own.

Don't try that liberal doubletalk... It is not good deeds or bad deeds but the :love of Christ" that will get you everlasting life. ONLY THAT

It's not what people tell you, but what the facts support.

Up to you to believe or not. Just my FINAL 2 Cents worth.
Apologize for the lengthy post and not posting correctly.

Hey Burrina.....you have been busy. I did notice that in two or three instances verses you quoted contained the idea that Satan would burn forever and ever... REM, He is a fallen Angel (immortal) and cannot die. On the other hand man does die and the flames of torture that Luke speaks of is probably the flames (fire and brimstone) that kills you.As far as I know there is only eternal death and not eternal torture except maybe to Satan.

I definately believe!

There's a lot of caveats to that , ie if you had never heard of him! Plus theres atheists included, and I have no doubt through the plenty of ecumenical and joint faith work , it includes other faiths too.

As I would hope so!

You stance seems a lot more - accept my interpretation of teaching or worship or else. Not the same thing.

So there Ner Ner...

Are we back in school suddenly..

Religion is the scourge of this planet, and it would be a much safer place with out it..

All the Bible is, and other religions holy books for that matter, are just Chinese Whispers, written by people who were never there just heard stories handed down from people who may or may not have known someone who reckoned they were there but had no proof that they were actually there... Hell given enough years passing, future Generations may be spewing Potterism as a Religion...

I was debating on another site with a 'Believer' about Evolution and Darwinism, his sole argument about proof is that nobody can prove Evolution is true as nobody was there to witness it, of course the Dullard didn't realize that he was also Poo Pooing his own stance, unless of course he was there himself to witness Jesus' so called Miracles or Resurrection...

All the Bible is, and other religions holy books for that matter, are just Chinese Whispers, .

More like "Arab whispers" I would have thought.

The Hebrews obviously wouldn't agree but the genetic tests show they are really just another tribe of Arabs.

So a new born is a sinner, just by being born, an event it had no control over, what a ridiculous religion you follow.

Brian

Yes, apparently headed up by a cold hearted, self centred, self obsessed megalomaniac "God".

I really can't understand what the attraction is. If I met a person like this in real life I wouldn't give him/her the time of day.

Col

Could have put this in the atheism thread - but it to me is too anti religious. And this thread was started as maybe somewhere a little more open minded.

Not sure if this is posted before

But yes - a lot of the atheism to me anyway "evangelical religion turned upside down". And its more vocal proponents - the equivalent of manic street preachers. Offering not much more than condemnation to anyone unfortunate enough to listen and not 100% adhere to their beliefs.

I wonder if the militant godless feed into a more extreme version of religion too, as something to rally against., that a chilled out , tolerant secular society would not.

There's plenty of struggles of life that cant be solved by science (currently at least), so an atheism that just opposes religion -and just espouses science is useless to me.

You're confusing New Atheism with just straightforward atheism. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in God or gods. As a rule, atheists don't subscribe to any sort of belief in any form of supernatural entities, and the vast majority expect proof of any such outlandish claims as "God flooded the entire surface of the Earth, saved two of any animal, then suspended all rules of genetics, space, and time to allow those animals to repopulate the earth in a couple hundred years, magically keeping a shepard family alive throughout".

New Atheism and its proponents - including Richard Dawkins and Jerry Coyne, for example - includes that stance, but also considers religion a serious threat to humanity, based on the history of the world and religion's starring role in all the hate, fear, war, and various atrocities throughout time. They are the loud ones you always hear calling for religion to be stamped from the earth, but bear in mind that it's not because of a hatred of religion, per se, but rather hatred and disgust of what religion always seems to lead to, be it massacres, torture, or genocide. And if you're honest, you have to admit that Europe's blood-drenched history is so bad largely because of religious conflict - the Crusades (not all crusades were aimed at Jerusalem), the Papal Schism, the Reformation and the slaughter it caused, the Inquisition, the Reconquista, the Yugoslav Wars and genocides...it goes on and on.

Edit: And before anyone thinks I'm giving other religions a pass, non-European examples include the entire ISIS uprising, the Taliban and its crackdown, the abominable treatment of Palestinians by Israel, and the entire Pakistan/India conflict, which has its roots in Hindus and Muslims slaughtering each other immediately after Britain freed them from its colonial control.

Yes, even a third gender also require the respect of others

The Hebrews obviously wouldn't agree but the genetic tests show they are really just another tribe of Arabs.

Galaxiom - the Hebrews have grounds to disagree slightly, at least. According to the early books of the O.T., the sons of Noah formed the tribes of Israel, except for the 13th son (I think it was) Ham, who founded the tribe that became the Arabs. Of course, this is just another chicken-vs-egg question. And of course, today we know that Ham can never be kosher.

Did you know that Americans pray before every meal? Imagine praying 18 times a day.
