The problem is that from now until the election, if they finally admit there is no pulse (and hasn't been one for a long time), that means that Kamala becomes president. If you think Papa Joe can be incomprehensible, just look at a few of Ms. Harris's speeches to see the ultimate in long-winded tautologies - a politician's favorite way to confound enemies since if the tautology is long-winded enough, by the time she reaches a conclusion, people have forgotten the premise.
