Trump Administration Predictions (1 Viewer)

No we don't put them in jail. They are sent to psych hospitals, often affiliated with a prison.
But first we have to keep letting them go until they actually kill someone, right? Is there a limit in your mind? 10 arrests? 19 arrests? 50 arrests? Or we just wait until someone dies?

Article VI says (in 2nd paragraph) that the Constitution is the law of the land and all judges shall be bound by it, anything in the Constitution or Laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding; the 2nd Amendment says that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
SHALL is the operative word but apparently it has no meaning in today's English given how much the second amendment has been reduced. I'm not even sure pea shooters are allowed in many states.

I always figured if I ended up in a state or city that doesn't allow you to have a handgun in your home, I'd buy a toy one as realistic as I could in the vague hopes of deterring something..

I think there are some good decent non-lethal options on the market these days.

if you are up against a real bad guy, you will be dead.

How y'all feeling about the Trump Fascist Regime censoring comedians? I think Pat mentioned that I'm too stupid to know what a dictator is.
Sorry Pat, you are one again, incorrect.

I know you get your news from Al Jazeera but really? How long should a network carry a show that is loosing viewers and costing them millions of dollars per year to prop up? How long should a network push un funny shows on their affiliates whose viewers represent the people that the show targets and lies about? The NY and LA markets think these two losers are funny. Flyover country doesn't find them the least bit amusing and so they stopped tuning in when the shows went TDS.

Trump saying they are not funny isn't a command to the networks to cancel the shows. Do you really think he cares if the fake news people were loosing millions supporting shows that no one watches? Get real.

I'm definitely uncomfortable with the FTC threatening ABC if they didn't pull Kimmel. So he said something offensive. So does everybody else, he's a comedian - he's supposed to say offensive stuff. Actually threatening them via the FTC was wrong, bad, inappropriate, and an abuse of power.

So he said something offensive.
He LIED. It was an outright lie and the actual news reports were correct and so he deliberately tried to mislead the audience and that was an attempt to cause more attempted assassinations.

It was the network affiliates from flyover country that caused the show to be cancelled. The flyover people knew Kimmel was lying and they were offended and so the affiliates threatened to preempt the show. Joe Blow's car dealership pulled his ads from the local channels so there were no sponsors to pay for the air time.

I don't know if the FCC interfered. I don't watch Al Jazeera. I don't like the FTC getting involved but there are rules that the networks are supposed to abide by. Just because the Biden administration encouraged all attacks against DJT doesn't mean that the FTC shouldn't have complained earlier. In any event, the FTC wouldn't have forced the cancel over a single episode. They may have asked for an apology and when Kimmel refused, the network pulled the plug because of the revolt by the affiliates. I did hear something about that.

No network is obligated to continue to loose millions every year to support a show that has no viewership. Think about why the two shows that have been cancelled were cancelled. It was ad revenue, plain and simple. With more than 50% of the country supporting Trump, the bulk of the viewership dropped out as the attacks became a permanent, and mostly unfunny, fixture of late-night comedy. When the viewership dropped precipitously, the ad revenue went with it. Why should the networks continue to support shows that loose millions of dollars annually? Politics is politics and the networks lean left but money trumps politics and so the shows were cancelled.

Cheering for the assassination of Charlie Kirk pushed a button for most people. It was a bridge too far. Kirk was none of the things he was accused of being and regardless, cheering for someone being murdered on video live is in such poor taste that it makes good people angry. I think the left is going to be very sorry this particular assassination succeeded. We are already seeing the results in the number of chapter requests received in the aftermath. Tens of thousands of requests have been made so Charlie's message will be going out to more and more high schools and college campus' next year, just in time for the midterms.

Comics can say what ever they want just not on broadcast TV. For example, CNN (cable) could say Charlie Kirk ‘had it coming,’ but ABC (broadcast) could not. That’s due to FCC licensing rules for public airwaves.

He spoke his personal opinion and had nothing to do with facts it was all about opinion and when you're stating your subjective opinion.... facts don't matter you're allowed to State it. And Trump's FTC threatened the station if they didn't x Kimmel. Pretty simple situation and totally inappropriate

Except he didn't say that..

I didn't say he did. However, ABC entered into a completely voluntary contract with the FCC. Within that contract are standards and practices that the corporation (ABC) freely agreed to. If the corporation violates the terms of this voluntary contract, the result could be a revocation of its license.

#1. He lied by saying that the assassin was Maga and that the Republicans were trying to make political points by lying about who the assassin was when the actual news, not the fake news had already identified the assassin and reeported that the assassin had etched hatred of Trump on some of the bullets NOT support of Trump along with support for transgender.

#2. The FCC has rules about what you can say on the publicly owned broadcast channels. Cable has much more flexibility.

#3. Listen to what he said rather than other people's opinion of what he said.

#4. Nobody gives a flying f what his opinion is. He's a "comedian". Comedians say stupid stuff to get a laugh. You need to be able to distinguish between what parts of his monolog were "fact based" and what parts were "opinion".

#5. And what part of a successful assignation is even remotely funny? If someone like Hitler were assassinated, I might feel relief but hysterical joy??

And the latest from 1600 Pennsylvania avenue, it looks like our illustrious leader has climbed out from under another rock and decided to slap $100,000 fee on the high-tech visas. Is there no Republican or conservative left in this country that will say one word of criticism to this Nazi wannabe dictator

Let’s look at his viral quote again: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
He lied by saying that the assassin was Maga and that the Republicans were trying to make political points by lying about who the assassin was
Where does he say the shooter was maga? I think your reading the quote through orange colored glasses.

had already identified the assassin and reeported that the assassin had etched hatred of Trump on some of the bullets NOT support of Trump along with support for transgender.
There was no mention of trump. The guy was an online troll. Do you know what a furry is?

The message engraved on the casing of the bullet that killed Charlie Kirk is used in trolling and “furry” subculture — and experts told The Post on Friday it was written by someone likely chronically online.

The casing had the words, “Notices Buldge OWO what’s this?” on it, according to an arrest affidavit targeting suspected assassin Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old trade-school student from Utah.

The string of words can be used for trolling — and connected to online furry and role-play groups, digital culture experts said.
Other inscriptions on three unfired casings allegedly belonging to Robinson included one that stated, “Hey fascist! Catch!” with an arrow up, to the right and three pointing down, which appears to be tied to the video game “Helldivers 2” — possibly referring to controller movements to drop bombs, the New York Times said.

Another etched casing stated, “if you read this, you are gay lmao” and the Italian phrase, “Bella Ciao” that has roots to an anti-fascist movement in the European country during World War II.

Trying to be objective, I can imagine that Jimmy didn't know that the shooter's political leanings were to the left at the time he made the statement. It was still in poor taste if he said that without knowledge of the shooter's conversion to liberal thinking, but it would be morally flat-out wrong if he DID know that Tyler had a trans-in-transition "special friend" because that would have totally voided any chance of validity to what he said.

It has been said by many on this forum during the Biden administration that Democrats never let a tragedy go to waste. Looks like Jimmy tried to not let this one go to waste either. But this time, the outrage was more than he might have expected. When confronted with the inaccuracy of his comments, if he apologizes to Mrs. Kirk and to the network, that would be a step to redemption. Will he take it? I'm making no bets.

The law gives the FCC the authority to revoke a broadcast license for not acting in the "Public Interest". A very dangerous law and constitutionally dubious. FCC chairman Brendan Carr threatened to revoke the licenses of stations over content. Even Ted Cruz called him out for his thuggish threats. Carr should be removed from office.
