I'm wondering if there is an external hard drive backup system that you can set up to make simultaneous backups of data. What I mean by that is when I write a file to a particular directory, it will also be written to the backup hard drive at the same time. I don't feel the need to make daily or weekly backups of these folders because there are a lot of files involved, many of which will not be changed very often.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Obviously there is Raid1 if you were happy using internal drives. I am not sure there is a way of doing this with externals, the data speed may not be quick enough unless you where using external SCSI etc.

As an idea, would using internal drives work, if you placed one within a caddy with sits in the front of your pc, so you can remove the hard drive in a caddy to save opening the box up all the time?

I guess it really doesn't have to be external. I just thought that it would save me the trouble of opening up the computer and configuring.

I will look into that. Thanks.

are you going to be using the computer 24-7? If not you might want to do daily backups when you are done working. What I use is synctoy from ms. Works great and you can setup which folders/files etc which location and it can back up to multipal locations with one click....

I don't know if you would want to write to two locations at the same time unless you are going to be using a raid configuration..... might bog down your system.

As mentioned, if you are going to write copy of data to two drives, you might as well use Raid 1 if your motherboard supports it.
