Got a question regarding adding pictures quickly to my db. I have 800 picks of colors that I need associate with a color number (800 in all) when I choose a color number from the dropdown menu (in Form View). I'd like to refer to them outside the db as it will remain more streamlined as time goes on. I am not into doing this one by one using "OLE Object" type. What's the best way to accomplish the quickest and simplest way?

Thanks,

Kilch

The attached file was authored by someone else and I am embarrassed that I can not give ther person credit but it is a sample of what you need to have I think.

Using hyperlinks is an approach that works, but if this is a networked db, ensure paths are short and names do not contain spaces.

Thanks. I saw this when I was doing my search and this is not what I am actually looking for. I am trying to show a picture with the selected record in Form View. I am trying to link it within the table as this: "images\4002.jpg". Will this work or will have to show the entire thread like this "C:\directory\subdirectory\images\4002.jpg".

I am not even really sure what the program does, but show you the images... Perhaps I am missing something here.

Thanks again,

Kilch

If your jpgs will be in same directory, and you can assign numbers or names at will, you could use the hyperlink approach as was suggested.

If you intend to change the drive or directory of where jpgs are located, you could have a 1 record table where you could identify the proper path to the images. This would simplify longer term maintenance.
Then on your form, have a hyperlink that includes a variable name that is valued with the current path to the images.

So hyperlink on form takes you to <path to images> & image.jpg

OK, can't seem to get anything to work. My next try at this is to use the "Attachment" feature whis is new in MS Access 2007, which works great. Very easy to impliment, almost too easy. lol

Question: Is there a way to automate this so I do not have to select all 800 color chips one at a time. Each color chip has it own record which gives the user information on that color.

Thanks.
