With that criteria, it would require that the search criteria is EXACTLY what is in the Memo field. Are you trying to allow part of the memo field to be searched on? You'll have to modify the code slightly for that, especially when you start dealing with multiple words.

Check this out (This is taking me waaaaay back to when I was a noob lol):

I didn't want to hi-jack the thread this quote was in sooo.... Here is my non-topic related comment to it:

Can't help but comment here.... You a noob! I forget that all you Gargantuan minds started somewhere....

Except for me, of course. I was born knowing Access and didn't have to learn it at all.

*hopes nobody bother to dig up his first few 100s posts* :D

You have just incited me to search for some.... Just for the heck of it. :p

Note to myself: Mustn't post my thought aloud. ;)

Hey, banana - don't worry. You and I had some really good theoretical discussions early on in your posting history. They'll make good - if somewhat confusing - reading.

I would put it in category of "growing pains" part of my growth - rewind a year earlier or so and I would have been too confused to follow the discussion we had! But nonetheless, it was very fruitful if a bit lofty discussion.

...I think this thread has run it's course... :o ;) :D :p

Hey, I can admit, I came here knowing NOTHING about Access. I still have much to learn. I never went to school for it or anything else. I'm a learn as I need it kind of guy. ;)

I wonder what we could dig up if we did a search for YOUR posts. :p

As I don't include myself in the "Gargantuan Mind" category.... go ahead.... dig away. :D At least Banana admits to the same, so no worries.

I don't fall under the category either honestly. Except for my moderating duties, I'm more of the comic relief member of the forum. This is why I lost thousands of posts a few years back when The Watercooler broke. I would be well over 10,000 right now if it wasn't for that. ;)

Vass, I keep hearing about that reference. I remember the time the forum was hacked and lot of people lost their posts, but Watercooler seems to be a separate incident?

I find it funny that one can stumble upon a post where I totally knew very little and my current post count shows. I almost wish that the post count was saved with the post so that new people coming in don't see that and think "man, he's an idiot - how can he be posting that and have so many posts..." :D

That's what post date is for.... If you know the post is from like..... 10 yrs ago then you have a little compassion.

You know that, and I know that, but a new person doesn't necessarily look at that. :)

Well, the bright side of this is that if they thought that, they would be idiots for not reading the date of the post. ;)

(Though given the occasional resurrection we see around here, I guess people totally miss the date of posts and blissfully post their reply to long dead thread.)

I remember my first time on the forum... you know, way back when almost a year ago :p..... I couldn't even figure out how to start a new post. I missed the button for it or something. And I e-mailed whomever it is you email and asked how to do it.... You know, I never did get a reply :(. It's a good thing I eventually figured it out.

It was the same incident. The main part of the forums were not affected. It affected the non-Access related forums, such as The Watercooler (completely wiped them out.) It was a sad time because without those posts, newer members can't see how things used to be here. Believe it or not, there never used to be ANY political talk back in those days and we all got along pretty well. I had, if I recall, around 8,000+ posts when that happened. It shows how much I truly know about Access... :o

Truthfully, I help when I can with Access issues, but moderating and the other computer issues (SQL, hardware, software) are more my cup of tea. I've done so on many forums in the past. Most of the time, the help I give is for things I have run into before so know how to explain it to the end user.

You probably tried AprileC

I don't think that user/moderator actually exists but as a made up thing of Jon.

I'm in the clear, I had taken a hiatus from my moderating post during that time. ;)

Actually, I just went to the "Contact" tab on the page and filled in the form and submitted it.

That's weird. I could have swore I recall Pat Hartman lamenting over how lot of helpful posts were lost which I took to mean that the site as whole was damaged and vaguely something about Jon having to use a backup from a week before because the host didn't backup daily or something like that. But my memory has been wrong, though.

Too bad, indeed. FWIW, from my POV, the tone of WC was pretty same as long as I can remember since joining up but then again, I wasn't really paying close attention and in first few years, my attendance was sporadic.

Thanks for sharing, Vass.
