Report - sort within a formula?

Hello Lilly, Herewith one way of doing it. In the query which generates the month from the reviewer date you also generate a field which is the year from the reviewer date. Then link on the year as well as the month and the link field. In the report add a RepYr header and possibly footer -...

Hello Lilly, Yes, I'm here. I'll just take a look at the database I put up and get back to you. All the best, Ian

Well done - if the system displays the data in the way you want to have it display then it will be acceptable. Programming elegance matters when performance and maintenance are an issue. Ian

Sorry about the delay - The Microsoft standard format painter works to dupliacte the format features of any of the objects. Ian

Now I feel really dumb - thank you very much for your patience - I had misunderstood which report and didn't realise that this was an access feature. I guess I hadn't done it wrong before! Ian

    Report Page Breaks

This now sounds as if you want conditional formatting. Selet the output field in design mode, go to format; Conditional formatting; New rule; select field value equal to; 1; define colour; save; create a new rule for 2 etc. Ian

Report - sort within a formula?

Yes, you could run the query without actually linking the tables but if it ever has more than one field you will end up with No of records = original records * fields in second table. Access just provides all possible records. Nightmare. Let me know if you need anything else. Ian

    Embedded reports

Hi JHB, Yes I had hoped that I could see what is happening but I am still stuck. I think I have done all you have said and it didn't work on the original database - but I have narrowed it down to the CLPresentBook report. So I went back to the dummy database which you sentback to me - where it...

Hi, JHB, Thank you very much - the database you sent works great - but I have no idea what you did. If I copy the report CLPresentBook from my original database to the one you supplied it still does not display when I embed it in a new blank report - I'm missing something! Can you help? Ian

It would also be useful to see what a single row of data provided to the reports looks like - what is the report trying to work with? Ian

    Report Problem

The term 'Expr1:' is normally the field name created by Access when an underlying query doesn't have the source data for a particular field that did exist when it was first created - if that makes sense? Ian

    Embedded reports

Hi JHB, I'm not sure why the error is not there all the time - when I try to run it again here the same error message does not appear either - however the reports do not display as I want them to. I have created an image called Mockup.jpg showing what I would like to see. Does this help? Thank...
