    Monitoring CTRL-ALT-DELETE activity

Thanks for the reply GHudson. I've tried every possible way of education, then used threats and finally, after the database packing it in last week (beyond repair)as you expertly warned, I'm looking for other methods to avoid this. The best I've been able to do so far is keep a record of who...

Link table problem with multiple users

Hi, I've created a few link tables in Excel which work fairly OK. But there seems to be a hitch...if 2 users attempt to use a combo box that refers to the same link table at the same time, 1 of them gets this message: "The Microsoft Jet Engine cannot open the file tbl1.xls. It is already...

#Error appearing in some fields of an acess table

Folks, I've seen all sorts of examples of this, including users opening the database twice on their own machine and locking themselves out! And blaming me for it... The fix I used was: Tools...Options...Advanced...Default Record Locking should be set to Edited Record. HTH Andrew

Problem with linking Excel to an Access table

Seems to be that any number field in Access that is blank displays #Num. I'm having the same problem as we speak

    Monitoring CTRL-ALT-DELETE activity

Hi, This is a long shot but anyway... Because of the number of times my database has crashed lately, I have a feeling that some new users are exiting it using the evil CTRL-ALT-DELETE method (possibly because their PC isn't up to the job). Assuming that there's no way of stopping this, is...

    Is SR1a the answer?

Still waiting for it to happen again. I'm also going to look at the powersave feature on some users PCs

    Is SR1a the answer?

Recently Access has been driving me to drink. I'm getting a "user has exited MS Access with a DB open" message but this is not the case. I've heard rumours that installing Service Pack 1a for Office 2000 fixes this but can someone please confirm or deny before I go installing it on 25 PCs this...

Look up a field on a subform

Wayne, Had a crack at this but had no joy. I think it could be the fact that the subform must feed into all the main form and not the other way around which would be normal! After a bit of messing around with PaddyIrishMans Unload code he sent me the other day, I got it to work. Basically...

Updating 1 combo by choosing a value from another

ghudson, It's taken 2 hours of trial and error but I finally got this to work for 4 combo boxes. Even added in an Unload event to populate an underlying form so I'm well pleased. Really big thanks...another mystery solved thanks to this forum. Andrew

Look up a field on a subform

OK, this is the third and last major complaint my users have with my database. I’ve got a master form (frmMaterial_Master), which sits on tblMaterial_Master. The only field on this table is txtMaterial. I then have 17 other main forms, of which frmMaterial_Master is a sub-form of them all...

Updating 1 combo by choosing a value from another

I’ve got a control on frmStemline called txtHierarchy. The 11-digit value the user wants to use for this field must be chosen from a list of around 450 values stored in a table called tblHierarchy. Now here’s the best part!! This 11-digit value is a combination of 4 values in the form xx xx...

Unload from 1 form to another

Huge thanks to PaddyIrishMan who sent me the fix for this.

Unload from 1 form to another

OK the specifics are this: I have a field called 'Family' which is held on frmForm1. This is the field I want to search. Beside this field, a command button opens a pop-up form called frmSearch_Family which runs off a query. This form has a macro mcr_Family_DG which hangs off the 'On Unload'...

Unload from 1 form to another

I have a pop-up search form (frmSearch) which works without a problem. Behind this I have an Unload macro which populates the underlying main form (say frmForm1) but because I want to use this method and pop-up form on many other underlying forms, I've had to create a search form and unload...
