Faster Querying??- Threads merged by Pat

Just a few suggestions, DLookUp is aways slow and in a large dbase you would be better off going to recordsets and recordsetclones. Also I have been told that if youbring the query into code it will run faster. Another thought might be, sense your reports take a long time, once you get them...

    Access bug cause error?

Interesting, why refresh in OnExit? You would have to open the macro and read it, maybe there is something in it. I hardly ever use macros any more, except to run reports remotely. They don't upgrade very well and there is hardly anything that a macro can do that you can't do faster and...

    Access bug cause error?

Never assume anything, especially with MS. Their philosophy is is get it to market and make the money on it and if MS is lucky they will fix it in an SP. As a last resort, try changing, both ends, the name of the dbase. Then create a new blank dbase and import everything into it and then run...

Maybe I am doing something wrong

Try checking the Chbild / Master link between the formand the subform. If that isn't right, nothing will work right. Also check your relationships, I will assume that it is one-to-many. Make sure that the referential integerty is checked and also the cascade update and delete. hth.

    Seeking Advice on Many-to-Many Relationships

I have been luck, I was forced to work with a many-to-many only once, with poor results, then someone pointed out to me that I had a bad design and showed me a better way of doing it and no many-to-many relationships. With that said I looked at the table aboveand maybe you might think about...

    Using a form

Simply yes. Build the query and double-click on it and the result should appear in a pop-up window in datasheet mode. If this is alright for you, you don't need a form. Forms a primarily there to organize data so it is easy to view, simply put. In your query in the PostalCode column, in the...

Have you installed all of the Sevice Packs for Access and Jet? Also you may want to try to reboot the computer. That is the Bill Gates cure-all. hth.

    Corrupted records after linking table

No I haven't. Are you using an ODBC link? Have you trried run C&R? Maybe try and create a blank dbase and import everything into it. Then run C&R on the new dbase. Just a few suggestion. hth.

    Seeking Advice on Many-to-Many Relationships

Do you always jump into the deepest end of the pool? The many-to-many relationship is probably the hardest relationship to understand. But try this it may help you better understand it: http://www.microsoft-accesssolutions.co.uk/many_to_many_example.htm hth.

    Relationships

Comboboxes always get their data from either tables or queries. If your data needs to come from more than one table or needs to have a crieria applied, then it is a good idea to use a query. Remember your form does not need to look like your report, it just needs all the data that you want in...

    Relationships

Good morning, Bill. I looked over the relationships doc and everything looks good. In the table themselves, the ID should all be the PKeys of each respective table. By the looks of things I see I take it that tblSurveyys is the main table and everything will key off of SurveyID, is that what you...

    stored calculations

The mileage should be stored, it is part of a calculation. It is the calculated item you shouldn't keep, except if one of the variables changes. As for the rate, there are several ways of doing it, the simplist is to hard code it, like you did and just change the rate when needed. Another is...

This is a little vague. First I am not sure what you mean by "main menu", are you talking about the Switchboard? Then you say you don't know how to do the main menu, but eariler you stated you had users login into the main menu, it is vague. First I would not use the Access Switchboard, I...
