    Code taking too long

Hi First up - don't use Dlookup - its crap and its slow. Instead, amend your Sql statement to return in a data range (start to end) of records. Then you can loop through them and add new records as appropriate. Perhaps. You could (in theory) use two sql statements... Not sure if its possible...

    Traffic Database

Jobs to type table for the latter part question. Would hold JobID and JobTypeID. tblDepartments - check spelling of Depertment ;) field Clients and supplier tables could be merged with flag to client (Y/N field?) Up to you on that one. As above for the contacts. (only a suggestion) Looks like...

Total Restructure of Sales form from table and query foundations

This is just a thought - and may not be a good one at that ;) Books Table (or Items table?) Holds ISBN etc detail Customer Table Holds address/tel customer details StockItems (not sure about this) holds books in stock - and when stocked Requests (for getting in books - specifically) Book...

    VBA query (EXPERT help needed!!)

Hi... The bits in bold were wrong/missing... Read up the second thread about Sql statements, see where you are going (slightly) wrong ;) What (data) is in the list box exactly? Vince

    Big problem with Tables

So have one field combined as the matching key to the unix system and two fields together for the Access part of the system. Both should be the same for example: UnixID Year Number -- rest of data fields 20041002 2004 1002 20030001 2003 0001 Then you should be able to link either way.. unix...

    Access Database Window

yeeeaahhhhsss... But you'd need to put it into a workgroup, which can be tricky, and still give yourself full rights of course! Why queries?? You mean let the users create queries on your db!!?? Vince

    Database rollback help?

Sounds like you need to rethink how you are backing up the data or (more importantly) retrieving it. If you are accessing the db through vb - there is a possibility of overwriting the mdb file - once all connections to it are closed. If you are in Access though things are trickier. One...

    Creating a Dynamic Forum

Ok, I conceed that MySql is more robust especially on connections front. If your site is already there and you are doing a forum, why not do it yourself, you get to learn dbs online, and access is good enough initially. If your site and forum gets loads of hits and starts dying, then shift it to...

    Relational Databases??

I'd go n google some tutorials on dbs, connections and searching. I assume you are using Access and this sounds like an assignment, in which case you should be discovering how to rather than us telling you... you won't learn if we tell you :p :) Have a browse online and try to make up the...

    Ref subform

I've not seen it before - So I am guessing its Access 2003 upgrade... Probably on the forms properties there is a help option (other tab perhaps). Or might be on the normal details, either way you'd need to set it to "no". In vb6 there was an option for the control box to have buttons...

Transfer Access 2000 Database from one Computer to Another

Just a thought... The two Access versions you have installed are the same? Copy the file to a shared area and try opening from there. Try a repair facility on the mdb file? Vince

    Ref subform

I haven't used subforms in ages - ('cause I think they are crap!) but... In theory... Forms("topform").controls("subformname").forms(<string>).border = 1 ...should work. Prolly doesn't though. I'll experiment and get back to you. I found (before) that subforms were useless and hard to...

Total Restructure of Sales form from table and query foundations

Sort of Amazon site? But in the db? I suggest you rethink and just have sales as a list with a status field. But as I don't know how this interacts with the rest of hte db there is probably a good reason. Is this part meant to be like a shopping basket? What happens if the user doesn't sell...
