Anyone tell me why this doesn't work:

Code:
t_sortString = Me!cboSortOpen

Forms("frmMain")("subfrmMainOpen").Form(t_sortString).BorderStyle = Solid

I don't use this type notation much and it has me stumped.

And I can use the variable t_sortString in the middle of the ref?

I haven't used subforms in ages - ('cause I think they are crap!) but...

In theory...
Code:
Forms("topform").controls("subformname").forms(<string>).border = 1
...should work. Prolly doesn't though.

I'll experiment and get back to you.
I found (before) that subforms were useless and hard to change, so I dropped them for list boxes :)

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl.

BTW: Do you know how to get rid of this: See Attachment

I've not seen it before - So I am guessing its Access 2003 upgrade... Probably on the forms properties there is a help option (other tab perhaps). Or might be on the normal details, either way you'd need to set it to "no".

In vb6 there was an option for the control box to have buttons enabled/disabled, and one was the help button. This may be a new 'helpful' functionality which won't be helpful once you've coded your db completely different to Access normal uses - ie you make a proper db ;) lol.

If you find the property post it up :)
